Waldoboro was incorporated in 1773. Waldoboro is situated in mid-coast Maine, 15 miles southwest of Rockland, 66 miles northeast of Portland and 28 miles south of Augusta and has a population of 4,916. The Town consists of 73 square miles of area, making it one of the largest towns in the region, including many miles of coastline, acres of forest and abundant open fields. Waldoboro was named after Samuel Waldo who owned the Waldo Patent and influenced many German and Irish immigrants to settle here.
