St. Joseph's College is located on the banks of Sebago Lake in the White's Bridge area of Standish. Also, Kiwanis Beach is located on Watchic Lake and is open to the public. The town was incorporated as Standish in 1786 in honor of Miles Standish who was a Pilgrim of the Plymouth Plantation.
