First incorporated as a town in 1791, Readfield, Maine has been host the the annual Kennebec County Fair consistently since 1856. Readfield rests on the banks of Maranacook Lake and is home to the Kents Hill prep school. Kents Hill started out as the Maine Wesleyan Seminary and was built by Luther Sampson in 1824. After the railroad arrived in the mid-1800's, Readfield developed a booming, factory-based economy that included woolen textiles, blinds and sashes.
