Old Town, Maine sits on several islands in the Penobscot River at the edge of the Great North Woods. Old Town was first settled in 1798 by Richard Winslow, who built a sawmill in the area, and is the birthplace of singer-songwriter, Patty Griffin and Stephen King's wife, Tabith, as well as Nobel Peace Prize nominee Doris Allen.
