Medway is the gateway to one of Maine's largest wilderness areas, the north woods. This multi-million acre region is home to Baxter State Park, numerous whitewater rafting outfitters, miles of snowmobile trails, and hundreds of pristine lakes and rivers. Wildlife abounds in this natural, unspoiled environment. And it is easily accessible, just off Interstate 95, in Medway, Maine. The town was named Medway when it was incorporated in 1875 because it is the midway point between the northern boundary of Penobscot County and the city of Bangor.
