Located in central Oxford county, near the New Hampshire border, the small Maine town of Greenwood was first setteld in 1802 under the name of Phillips Academy Grant. It was later incorporated as a town in 1816. Greenwood is composed of the Village of Locke Mills and the smaller Village of Greenwood City. Greenwood rests on the banks of Round Pond and is the closest town to Mount Abram Ski Area.
