The town of Fairfield has earned the nickname of "Sleeping Giant" due to it's enormous commercial potential and continual growth. Running within the town are U.S. Routes 201 and I-95. The town of Fairfield was settled in 1774 and was named because of it's beauty. Fairfield is home to the Kennebec Valley Community College, the L.C. Bates Museum and the Cotton-Smith House Fairfield Historical Society Museum.
