Located between the towns of Howland and Argyle, Edinburg, Maine is named after the famous Scottish city by one of it's first settlers, John Bennoch. Edingburg is located between the Passadumkeag and Penobscot Rivers and was incorporated as a town in 1835. One of Edinburg's most famous natives was Corporal Asbury Haynes, who won a Medal of Honor for capturing the Confederate battle flag at the Battle of Sailor's Creek during the Civil War.
