Located on the southern edge of Penobscot County, Eddington, Maine was first settled in 1780 by families from Nova Scotia. Eddington is named after Revolutionary War Colonel Johnathan Eddy from Massachusetts, who was also the first magistrate in the area. Because of its position on the shores of Penobscot River and its proximity to both Chemo and Davis Pond, the town of Eddington is a popular outdoor recreation destination. Other area attractions include Boy Scout Camp Roosevelt and the Penobscot Experimental Forest.
