Eastport, Maine is home to the largest Fourth of July Festival in the State of Maine. Eastport is located on Moose Island near Perry, Maine and was originally settled in 1772. Fort Sullivan was built here in 1810 as a battery and blockhouse. The Fort gained fame in 1814 when a dozen British warships loaded with 200 guns appeared and were defeated by the Fort's six officers and nine guns.
