East Millinocket was first settled in 1830 by George McCauslin. Nicknamed 'The Town that Paper Made', the town of East MIllinocket was virtually created by the Great Northern Paper Company in 1906 because of its proximity to the water power of Dolby Dam. Each summer, East Millinocket holds an annual Summerfest with live music, parades, public meals, fireworks, a street dance, and greased pig, hot dog and watermelon eating contests.
