Located between Brunswick and Auburn, Maine, the town of Durham started out as the home of a turn of the century apocalyptic religious group known as Shiloh or The Kingdom. Durham has been tagged as one of Maine's best small towns to live in, and because of it's proximity to Portland, Auburn, Lewiston and Freeport, it has seen a consistent population increase over the last half century. Although famous horror writer Stephen King now lives in Bangor, he was raised in Durham as a child.
