Clinton, Maine is both a farming and suburban community which contains one of the largest dairy herds in the state within it's 44 square miles. The main line of the Springfield Terminal Railroad runs through Clinton, as does the Sebasticook River. Population has been growing at about 2 percent per year. Clinton was named after Dewitt Clinton, who was known for building the Erie Canal, as a U.S. Senator, a Governor of New York, and a Presidential nominee.
