First purchased in 1795 by Martin Kinsley, the town of Carmel, Maine was settled by Reverend Paul Ruggles and his family three years later. Carmel has recently seen a significant population growth, primarily due to its proximity to both Interstate 95 and the city of Bangor. One of Carmel's most famous natives was Myrna Fahey, an actress who appeard in many films and television shows between 1950 and 1970, including House of Usher, Bonanza, and Perry Mason.
