First settled in 1824 by Tristam Hurd, the town of Burlington, Maine has a long history of agriculture and lumber industries. Located less than an hour north of Bangor, Burlington rests on the banks of Saponac Lake and was first incorporated as a town in 1832.
Buildings of historical interest in Burlington include the Page Building, the Lord Building, the Shory Building, Ye Olde Tavern, and The Willing Workers Comfort Lodge - all of which are preserved and maintained by the Steward M. Lord Memorial Historical Society.
