Brooklin, Maine is located on the southern shores of Hancock County on the Atlantic Ocean, and was originally incorporated in 1849. It is said that an 11th century silver Norse coin was found in 1957 at the Goddard dig site in Brooklin. Famous Brooklin residents have included the author E.B. White (Charlotte's Web & Stuart Little), James Wiggins (former US Ambassador to the UN), novelist Rafael Yglesias, writer Ben Marcus, photographer Benjamin Mendlowitz, and many others.
