Commonly called the 'Gateway To North Maine Woods', Ashland, Maine was first incorporated in 1862. Ashland was originally named after Henry Clay's home in Kentucky until it was changed to Dalton to honor the first settler of this town. Later on it was renamed Ashland once again. Once the site of a thriving logging industry, Ashland is now home to the Ashland Logging Museum.
