Abbot is located 12 miles WNW of Dover-Foxcroft. This is a farming and lumbering region in Maine. Abbot was granted to Bowdoin College in 1794 and gets its name from Bowdoin treasurer John Abbott. Originally settled by the Abraham Moor family in 1805, Abbot has a popular boat landing that is located at the town beach on Piper Pond.
