When the small town of Ogunquit Maine heard about a couple from Mississippi whose Golf Coast wedding plans had been destroyed by Hurricane Katrina they all pitched in to help Jacy and Mark out.
It started when Debra Graham of meliving.com received an email from the couple explaining what had happened. "They said they didn't have a lot of money but wanted to come up and get married on the coast." Explained Graham. In order to help this couple Graham connected them with Scott Osgood and Bruce Senecal who run the Gazebo Inn Ogunquit. They offered Jacy and Mark a room at a significant discount.
At first the plan was to have just Jacy and Mark go to Maine and get married. Soon however family members joined in wishing to be part of the special day. With the group totaling 20 people they took over the inn for an entire week. Osgood said that "She gave me her budget but never asked for anything free. She was just budget conscious. I thought to reach out to the businesses."
When the community heard the what had happened they really came together to help make Jacy and Mark's wedding a memorable one. Upon their arrival a free pizza party was ready and waiting thanks to the generosity of Julie's Ristorante. The following day Julie's also threw them a barbeque at cost. A free wine and cheese basket was in the wedding suite from Perkins and Perkins. Per the couple's request baskets were made up for the other rooms.

Everything came together for the wedding with the Nubble Lighthouse as the background. It was picture perfect. The flowers were from Keith Shubert's Floral Concepts who donated the Bride's bouquet. After the wedding their was a lobster bake thanks to a generous discount from Beach Plum Lobster. Anello's Bakery provided a beautiful three-tier wedding cake for $50. Ocean Graphics of Ogunquit provided T-shirts for everyone. The shirts had the names of the bride and groom of course along with the wedding party and the date of the wedding.
For Jacy, Mark, and their family this was more than a destination wedding. This was a chance to get away and renew. A chance to be family on vacation and this was something that they dearly needed. Maine was an ideal place for them to do just that. With so much support from the community it was unforgettable.
