Maine fall foliage colors begin to appear in northern Aroostook County beginning in late August. The peak colors appear first in far northern Maine - usually by the end of September. The foliage season in Maine is brilliant from late September in the north to mid or late October along the south Maine Coast. "Peak Color" is subjective but to most people peak fall viewing is when there is a good variety of reds, oranges and yellows mixed in with the brown, tan and green vegetation.
