Maine has over 2,500 lakes and 3,500 miles of beautiful coastline that are perfect for everyone's boating pleasure. Every region of Maine has lakes that are simply ideal for boating. While many of these lakes are part of a state park, there are also locations that are maintained by local groups. This allows for more access points and makes it easier for everyone to get on the water.

Maine's stunning, craggy coast is a popular boating destination. Many avid boaters visit Maine each year, just to experience the coastal beauty for themselves. Harbors dot all 3,500 miles of the coast, and there are plenty of marinas to park your boat. The Maine seacoast has a charm and quaintness all its own and should not be missed.

Some access points are graveled or hard-surface while others are only available at high-tide. It is also good to keep in mind that some of the lakes in Maine can only have small craft due to either the size of the lake or current preservation laws. It's always a wise move to check with the Division of Parks and Recreation before heading out, as there might be restrictions.
